Appreciated for its robustness and long battery life, the Garmin Instinct GPS multisport watch has recently evolved into an even more successful version 2. It is still available today to appeal to a public attached to traditional analog hands, while benefiting from some welcome improvements.
A pair of luminescent hands
The main attraction of this Garmin Instinct Crossover therefore lies in its two analog hands, positioned above the same 0.9″ transflective LCD screen as on the Instinct 2. These hands as well as the numbers and graduations of the bezel which surround have the particularity of being luminescent to remain visible in the dark.

As on other Garmin hybrid watches, the hands automatically change position so as not to obscure the information displayed on the screen. The analog hands system also benefits from RevoDrive technology, ensuring automatic recalibration of the time in the event of system disruption caused by a shock, for example.
The integration of hands, on the other hand, results in an increase in the thickness of the watch, that of the Instinct Crossover reaching 16.2 mm, i.e. 1.7 mm more than the Instinct 2. This also weighs down the watch that goes from 52 g to 65 g. The Instinct Crossover also retains its 10 ATM immersion resistance.
Long autonomy and multi-GNSS
Garmin did not want to compromise on autonomy with its Instinct Crossover, always announcing up to 28 days of operation in connected watch use. The endurance in GPS mode decreases however, to 25 hours against 30 hours for the Instinct 2. In question, the use of a multi-satellite GNSS chip which in principle offers better geolocation to this Instinct Crossover, but consumes a little more energy in return. Autonomy in economical GPS mode increases significantly, however, from 70 to 111 hours, while GPS mode goes from 32 days to 40 days of autonomy – to the detriment of the precision of the GPS track in both cases.
The other functions of the Instinct Crossover are common to the Instinct 2 and we therefore find the health monitoring, the training and recovery functions or the TracBack navigation function to return to its starting point.
Available only in 45 mm format, the Garmin Instinct Crossover will be marketed by the end of the year at a price of €549.99, which is still €200 more than the Instinct 2. It is also available in a version Solar with integrated solar glass, to gain a few hours of autonomy when the watch is exposed to the sun. Then count €599.99 for the classic model (black or blue) and €50 more for the Instinct Crossover Tactical Edition (black only with stealth mode, dual-band GPS chip, emergency button, night vision, etc. .).
