From May 15 to 24, days during which the jury led by Greta Gerwig will discover the films in the Competition of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, five French directors will try to succeed Justine Triet, Palme d’Or 2023 with Anatomy of a Fall.
Among them: Christophe Honoré, who has already passed through the queen section twice, from which he left empty-handed despite the immense qualities of Songs of Love and Please, Love and Run Fast. Will Marcello Mio allow him to reverse the trend?
A fifteenth feature film which confirms the director’s taste for ghosts, which already haunted Chambre 212, Guermantes, Le Lycéen or his play The Sky of Nantes. For the occasion, he collaborates for a seventh time with Chiara Mastroianni in the cinema, and casts the shadow of his father Marcello over her.
In a story that blurs the boundaries between fiction and reality. The heroine is called Chiara and she is the daughter of Marcello Mastroianni and Catherine Deneuve (who plays herself, like Fabrice Luchini or Nicole Garcia). But she decides to change her life, to live that of her father, whose look (mustache included) and way of speaking she adopts.
