Intel and Nvidia: the new desktop workstations are coming


Intel and Nvidia are combining their latest processors – CPU and GPU side – to power new desktop workstations capable of handling some of the most demanding applications.

With the latest Intel Xeon processors and Nvidia RTX 6000 Ada GPUs, the workstations are designed to perform high-level AI calculations, sophisticated renderings and simulations.

They should benefit people working in data science, engineering, entertainment, streaming, or health.

“The new Intel and Nvidia-Ada powered workstations deliver unprecedented speed, power and efficiency, enabling professionals around the world to support the most complex workflows across industries,” said Bob Pette, vice president of professional visualization at Nvidia, in a statement.

The workstations will be equipped with Intel’s Xeon W-3400 and Xeon W-2400 processors. The high-end Xeon W9-3495X processor is available with up to 56 cores in a single socket.

It features a redesigned memory controller and larger L3 cache, allowing it to deliver 28% increased performance in single-threaded mode and 120% in multi-threaded mode compared to Xeon processors W of the previous generation.

Meanwhile, the latest Nvidia RTX 6000 features 142 third-gen RT Cores, 568 fourth-gen Tensor Cores, and 18,176 latest-gen CUDA Cores, paired with 48GB of high-performance graphics memory.

The workstations are also equipped with Nvidia ConnectX-6 Dx SmartNICs for high-speed, low-latency networking and streaming capabilities.
