Intel ARC Alchemist DG2-128: entry level will face NVIDIA’s RTX 2050

Slowly, but surely, Intel’s return to the small world of Graphic card
dedicated becomes clearer.

While we did not necessarily expect it at the turn, NVIDIA recently announced the upcoming release of the GeForce RTX 2050, an entry-level card that could have competition very quickly.

Opposite RTX 2050 / APU Rembrandt

CES 2022 in Las Vegas should be the occasion for AMD to present its new APU, codenamed Rembrandt, but today it is rather information concerning the response of Intel that reaches us.

The ARC Alchemist range must therefore consist of a DG2-128 model which seems more particularly designed for the entry level and therefore to be put in front of this RTX 2050. The latest details published by Moore’s Law is Dead and relayed by WCCFTech evoke a TDP of 35 Watts with a maximum PL2 of 50 W.

Information which confirms that Intel adapts its system of evaluation of the power of the CPUs to its GPUs. More interestingly, this brings the DG2-128 closer to the RTX 2050 whose TDP seems to have to be between 30 and 45 Watts, for perfectly competing solutions.

Three variants of DG2-128

The DG2-128 is also characterized by a 64-bit interface bus, a value that, again, we find both at NVIDIA on the RTX 2050 and at AMD on the Navi 24 GPU.

In all likelihood, and of course if the availability is a little more than virtual, the battle for the entry level should be engaged at the end of the first quarter of 2022 with launches, so to speak, concurrently between the three competitors.

Finally, remember that according to the latest rumors the GPU DG2-128 could be the subject of three variants with a model desktop equipped with 128 execution units / 6 GB of memory for a TDP of 75 W, one model laptop with the same 128 UEs, but 4 GB of memory for a TDP of 35-50 W and, finally, a 96 UE model with 4 GB and a TDP of 35 W.
