Intel presents Gaudi 3, a chip dedicated to AI with “extremely promising” results

This chip dedicated to AI should offer peak performance, Intel announces. At the microphone of BFMTV Tech&Co, the president of the French branch, Erwan Montaux, welcomes the “results of Gaudi 3” who would be “extremely promising”. According to him, the chip “runs 50% faster than the previous generation H100 processor from Nvidia”.

Where the Gaudi 3 chip would hit hard is in the practical application called “inference”. This is the relevance of the model’s response (words, pixels or sounds) when a user sends it a request.

Intel is facing formidable competition, with Nvidia in the lead and even Groq. A challenge that Erwan Montaux recognizes: “There is incredible excitement, yes. It competes with some of our solutions”. But the head of Intel France indicates that “Groq, like all those who will develop AI solutions, [peut] also call on us and our foundry capabilities”.

The semiconductor market would double within 10 years

It must be said that the semiconductor market, valued at nearly $500 billion in 2023, will “more than double by 2033”according to Erwan Montaux. “One of the vectors of this acceleration is AI. So there are needs and we are trying to meet them”he specifies.
