Interior hacks: 5 furnishing tips for a small bedroom

Is there just enough space in your bedroom for a bed and closet? think! With these interior tips, even the smallest rooms can make a big impression.

When setting up, we often focus on the living room – after all, this is where we spend most of the (waking) time of the day. With this culpable neglect, however, we do our bedroom an injustice. Because this is where we start and end every day, it is our retreat where we recharge our batteries in stressful times.

Our bedroom is also often the smallest room in the apartment, and we therefore believe that we cannot get much out of the interior anyway. Even small bedrooms can not only become really cozy with these simple tips, but also become the secret star of the whole apartment.

5 interior design tips that will make the most of your small bedroom

1. Not too bulky furniture

A mistake that many people make when furnishing small rooms is that the furniture is too bulky. Where there is little space, you create more space visually with filigree furniture and open elements. That doesn’t mean that a small bedroom can only do with a tiny single bed – the frame and legs of the bed are much more important. These should be rather narrow and delicate. In addition, you should not choose legs that are too short. Because the further a piece of furniture is from the floor, the more airy it looks.

2. Create invisible storage space

High legs on the bed frame have another advantage: they create more storage space under the bed – which ideally is even invisible. Boxes in neutral colors create space for everything important, but optically they easily disappear under the mattress. See website to check out an array of robustly designed metal bedframes that provide more storage space under the bed. Tip: There is often still room on the cupboard for storage elements such as boxes or baskets.

3. Bright colors

As cozy as dark, intense tones can be, they are misplaced in a small room. Instead, light colors provide more lightness and make the room appear larger. However, you should avoid everything in white – it quickly looks sterile. A good mixture of delicate pastel or light natural tones is optimal, preferably within a color family. Of course, there can also be bright color accents, such as a cushion or picture. However, you should design at least 60 percent of your room composition with light, rather neutral colors.

4. Indirect light sources

An important tip to make any room more comfortable: indirect light. But especially in your small bedroom, you should avoid using only ceiling lights. Indirect, diffuse light sources ensure a cozy and pleasant atmosphere. In addition, several light sources – such as a floor lamp, a wall light and a beautiful bedside lamp – visually enlarge the room.

5. keep order

Of course it’s tempting to simply throw your jeans over the chair after a stressful day. But especially if your bedroom is rather small, you should avoid chaos and put away clothes and other items directly. Because clutter and many objects lying around are particularly noticeable in small rooms, the room then quickly appears overloaded. So tidying up in your small bedroom is doubly worthwhile!
