The British singer is back with a new album. And tells how the songs on it came about.

After a five-year hiatus, British singer Rita Ora is back with her new album You & I. Known for her catchy and poppy songs, this time the 32-year-old presents a collection of songs that are full of love. “I wrote all the songs,” she reveals to “Faces and Stories.”

I co-wrote all the songs.

The album, which she released on July 14, 2023, contains personal and intimate messages addressed to anyone who would like a loving and warm hug.

Song written with hangover

The singer wrote one of those songs the day after she married 47-year-old film director Taika Waititi. She let the emotions after her big day flow into her new album. This despite the fact that she was hungover: “I don’t really know why, but the next day I had a hangover. Then I wrote a song.” The song had become her wedding song.

Husband Waititi has been a great support throughout the album process. The two are very similar, even though they work in different industries.

Just as important to Rita Ora as love for her husband is love for her family and her Kosovar-Albanian roots. In one of the new songs, Rita Ora describes her relationship with her mother. The song is also about the fact that her mother always encouraged her in life. She remembers one moment in particular: “When my mother came to England and raised me and my sister, she didn’t let us feel the circumstances.” This was great work from her parents.

Rita Ora comes to Switzerland

Eleven years ago, the Brit made her breakthrough with the song “Hot Right Now”. The song topped the UK Singles Chart. She can still remember the feeling from back then: “When the song came out, I thought I’d done it.” She couldn’t believe she’d come this far as a west London girl.

Last year the singer performed at the Zurich Open Air in Rümlang. Now Rita Ora is coming to Switzerland again, where she will present her new album. On Saturday, August 5th, she will be on stage at the “Stars in Town” festival in Schaffhausen.
