INTERVIEW. “She considers it a betrayal”, Alexandra Vandernoot (Here it all begins) returns to Cardone’s aberrant behavior

The ongoing ark in Here It All Begins involves Chief Cardone and her son, Ethan. On occasion, Alexandra Vandernoot confided in Télé Star on a character as tough as it is fascinating.

Télé Star: Can you tease what awaits Annabelle Cardone in the coming days in Here it all begins?

Alexandra Vandernoot: Ethan passed the entrance exam to the Institute, and we feel that his mother is very involved in his success. It’s not just any school, it’s the Auguste Armand Institute and she obviously wants her son to be received with honors in relation to all the liabilities she has with Teyssier. It’s a kind of revenge for her. So we feel an extremely tough and demanding woman in relation to her son, as she is in relation to herself. She wants Ethan to live up to his reputation. His replacement at the Institute is a way of keeping an eye on him and being there to boost him.

Do you have any idea why your character is so competitive?

Alexandra Vandernoot: I think it’s linked to her liabilities with Teyssier, she is always in competition with him. She felt let down and betrayed when he left from home, because she put a lot of hope in Teyssier and she was surely considering a long collaboration. She considers it a betrayal that goes back several years and she still hasn’t digested it.

So she’s using Ethan for revenge?

Alexandra Vandernoot: The fact that her son comes to the Teyssier school is a bit like passing the entrance exam for the Institute. And she is a woman who has a lot of demands on herself, so she also applies it to her son. Well we will feel in the next episodes thatshe nevertheless remains maternal in scenes where she is rather understanding, but for the moment we rather feel her competitive and hard side with her child. I think she is like some parents who do not always realize the pressure they put on their children and who think they are doing them a favor by raising them the hard way or by asking them for impeccable academic results. Cardone doesn’t realize the pressure she’s putting on Ethan. She’s not a fundamentally bad or mean woman. She is a woman who has goals to achieve and who is ready to do everything to achieve them.

Do you think Annabelle Cardone could ever change?

Alexandra Vandernoot: So yes, why not. She’s not just like that, and I would like there to be scenes in the series that would help to better understand her woundto be forgiven for more things.

Would you like to come back in Here it all begins for an ark, precisely, focused on the past of Cardone?

Alexandra Vandernoot: Yes, that would be very interesting! Afterwards, it depends on the writing and the work of the authors… I’m not at the year on Here everything begins, but until now, each time I came, I was super happy because I thought that my arches were very interesting. It’s true that an ark that would explain Cardone’s past, the reason for his behavior, would be really interesting.

What do you hope for in the sequel for your character?

Alexandra Vandernoot: I don’t know what to tell you because every time someone calls me to come, it’s a good surprise. So what I hope is that it continues and that I am brought back from time to time. So far the arches I’ve had to do are done and really make sense. I don’t feel frustrated with anything when I come to do them, so if it could continue like this, that would be great!
