Rúrik Gíslason is considered one of the most beautiful men on TV – we spoke to the ex-footballer about what true beauty really means to him.

Women fall for this man in rows: Rúrik Gíslason, 35. Once languishing on the football field as an Icelandic national player, he not only danced his way into the hearts of the fans with his victory in “Let’s Dance” (2021). In the meantime, the all-rounder has become an integral part of German television – Rúrik is currently working on his acting career. We met him for an interview and discovered completely new talents.

Rúrik Gíslason in the GALA interview

GALA: You just sang for us. What are you really not good at?
Rúrik Gíslason: Mathematics. Very simple answer.

You presented the prize for the best spa in the world at the Spa Awards. How do you get down?
Oh, first of all, I love spas. I’m from Iceland. And in Iceland we really have a lot of thermal baths and thermal springs. That means we have almost as many pools as you guys have bakeries. Yes, I just love spas like the Germans love their bakeries.

What does beauty mean to you?
For me, when we talk about appearance, beauty is natural beauty. So I’m not the biggest fan of injections and unnaturalness. It sounds like a cliché, but everyone is beautiful and, above all, you should feel beautiful about yourself. It’s about the whole package: How are you as a person? Are you confident? do you have a presence do you have charm This is beauty to me. And then you have to be nice. And it’s easy to be nice.

Who do you think is nice?
So many people! For example how I am treated in Germany, everyone in Germany is nice to me. Of course I am very grateful for that.

You’re such a sunny boy and popular everywhere. Do you have anything to do with hate online at all? You get it: Shitstorm here, stupid comments there. Does that affect you too?
No. I have to be honest, a lot of people get stupid comments. I, thank God, very, very little. My focus is definitely on the positive comments. And yes, we’re back to being nice. If you don’t have anything good to say, it might be best to just keep your mouth shut.
