(Boursier.com) — Intuitive Machines jumped 43% before market on Wall Street, while the space exploration firm became the first private company in history to succeed in landing a spaceship on the Moon! The Texan company’s lunar lander, called Odysseus, landed last night on the Malapert A crater, approximately 300 kilometers from the south pole of the Moon. This is the first American landing on the lunar surface in more than half a century, reports Reuters. The lander had been sent to the Moon the previous Thursday using a Falcon 9 rocket from Elon Musk’s SpaceX company from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. “Congratulations on landing on the moon!” exclaimed Musk on the social network X, formerly Twitter. Intuitive Machines is now awaiting the first images of the lunar surface. The group transported NASA equipment to the Moon. This success should earn him some nice contracts…
