Invincible: Series star Steven Yeun has news about Season 2 of the Amazon series

Star of Amazon’s hit animated series “Invincible”, Steven Yeun (“The Walking Dead”), reveals some details about the much-anticipated Season 2. The adaptation of the comic series of the same name, originally penned by Robert Kirkman, the creator of “The Walking Dead”, received a lot of praise from fans and critics when the series started in March 2021 on Amazon Prime Video.

Despite the simple and clear drawing style of the comic and the series adaptation “Invincible” scores with mature themes and depicts some of the most brutal acts of violence of all superhero series in recent years.

The first season of “Invincible” concludes with an action-packed finale pitting the titular hero (Yeun) against his father, Omni-Man (JK Simmons). Omni-Man is one of the most notable characters of the first season. The series initially portrays him as a classic, Superman-esque hero.

But as the season progresses, his nefarious motives are quickly revealed. At the end of the final episode, Omni-Man’s fate is left open-ended, offering a tantalizing foretaste of seasons to come.

In a recent interview with online magazine Collider, Steven Yeun gave an update on the status of Invincible season 2. The actor says that while production hasn’t started yet, it will be “sometime soon.” He also revealed that Kirkman himself believes Season 2 “will be even better than Season 1”.

We haven’t started yet. I know we will start soon. I have with Robert [Kirkman] spoken […]. So he’s super excited. He thinks Season 2 will be even better than Season 1 – which I have no doubt about. If you look at the source material, “Invincible” is just an incredible comic. And when you consider how much of this series’ story hasn’t been told yet, it’s going to be insane. I’m really looking forward to it.

Although work on Season 2 hasn’t started yet, it’s reassuring to hear how closely connected the comic’s writer, Robert Kirkman, is to the project is. Kirkman’s optimism should bode well that the quality of “Invincible” will at least be maintained in season 2.
