Ionity will open 400 kW terminals for ultra-fast charging

With nearly 500 stations offering 2,434 charging stations across Europe, Ionity, a competitor to charging networks such as Tesla’s Supercharge, Total or Fastned, aims to reach the milestone of 1,000 stations for more than 7,000 terminals worldwide. horizon 2025, while installing new 400 kW terminals on its network.

Even faster charging

The Ionity network already offers a charging power of up to 350 kW, a value that no car is able to exploit. Tesla cars are content with 250 kW, while the best competitors such as the Audi e-Tron or Porsche Taycan are limited to 270 kW, still far from the 350 kW mark.

But the market is changing and so are technologies; Ionity is preparing to welcome cars that could support even higher powers for recharging the batteries in just a few minutes. In addition, competing networks are also getting up to speed, like Tesla or Fastned, which already have terminals offering such power.

Obviously, only the most top-of-the-range and most expensive cars will benefit from this technology and it will be necessary to wait before filling up with electrons so quickly with a cheap city car, this type of vehicle generally being limited to 100 or 150 kW .
