Apple’s annual high mass is scheduled for June 6, and the program promises to be very, very busy, according to the journalist from Bloomberg Mark Gurman.

As usual, the Worldwide Developers Conference will be largely dedicated to the software part of Apple’s ecosystem. But, according to Gurman, we should also discover the brand new version of the MacBook Air.

What’s new on the software side at WWDC 2022?

A few days before the conference, we already have a global overview of what awaits us at the event dedicated to developers working on the Apple ecosystem.

iOS 16 should also be present there with great fanfare. If we do not expect any major aesthetic change, this new version should give a new facelift to the notification system which does not yet seem to fully satisfy Apple. New functions dedicated to health would also be on the program, such as various modifications in terms of UX to better accommodate the new cutout of the notch of the future iPhone 14.

Now more independent vis-à-vis its big brother, iPadOS could be equipped this year with new features facilitating the use of several applications. Thanks to the overpowering of Apple’s M chips, it is becoming increasingly easy to quickly switch from one demanding application to another – like from Photoshop to Illustrator, for example. Also, it is rumored that a new interface dedicated to multitasking is in preparation.

MacOS 13, meanwhile, could steal some of their flagship features from iOS and iPadOS. A recent habit on the part of Apple, which obviously does not intend to give it up! This year, the Apple computer OS would potentially adopt an interface design much closer to its mobile devices. Rather logical: thanks to Apple Silicon chips, even the brand’s computers are able to launch iOS and iPadOS applications natively. The idea is therefore to offer an even more consistent interface on all the brand’s devices.

On the smartwatch side, watchOS 9 could introduce a new “energy saving” mode that could well save the life of Apple Watches with tired batteries. Or, quite simply, keep you away from a charger a little longer.

TVOS, to conclude, should remain the poor child of the family. So far, we’ve only heard of new screensavers – though we have no doubt that Apple has other less noticeable improvements planned as well.

Will the new MacBooks be shown?

Apple is not really accustomed to the presentation of new products during WWDC. But, according to Mark Gurman, the firm could take advantage of the event to tell us about the new Macs, and in particular the new generation MacBook Air.

We know Apple is entangled in supply problems for its future iMac Pro doped with the mini-LED screen. But the new MacBook Air seems to be on track to show off soon.

Gurman slips in his latest newsletter that several developers have noticed that more and more Apple employees are using this new laptop, which must be the first to ship the M2 chip. According to the journalist, this is a sign that his release is near.

From what we know for the moment, the M2 would not necessarily aim for breakthrough performance compared to the M1, but rather better energy efficiency. We would stay on an 8-core processor (with an increased frequency), and the GPU would have 10 cores (2 more than the M1).

Even though the MacBook Air would be shown at WWDC 2022, the laptop is not expected before next fall. Which, with the release of the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max at the start of the school year, already suggests a dizzying agenda for Apple at the end of the year.
