iPhone 14 price forecast: when will the new Apple phones be cheaper?

The new iPhone 14 hasn’t even been presented yet, so one or two potential buyers are already wondering: When will it actually get cheaper? Experienced market professionals dare to predict the price development of Apple cell phones in advance. This much is certain: bargain hunters will have to be patient in the future.

One thing will not change with the upcoming iPhone 14 either: If you want to save, you must not be a first-time buyer. However, this does not yet answer the question of when the price drop for Apple’s new smartphones can be expected. The analysts of a well-known price comparison site provide the first answers. They took a closer look at the numbers from the past and are therefore already daring to do a first one Forecast for the price development.

iPhone 14: Apple cell phone prices fall later and less sharply

Since the actual purchase prices are still unknown, the makers rely on forecasts from various experts. The starting point is therefore 899 euros (iPhone 14), 1,199 euros (iPhone 14 Pro) and 1,299 euros (iPhone 14 Pro Max). The new standard model with a larger display (iPhone 14 Max or Plus) has not yet received any attention because there are no corresponding comparative values. After all, Apple did not have a direct predecessor of this variant (source: Idealo). According to Idealo, the prices should then develop as follows in the next few months after presentation:

A number of observations can already be made:

  • That iPhone 14 could be around 12 percent cheaper after 4 months to be available
  • It takes longer for the Pro models, which require a double-digit price drop (11 percent for the Pro, 13 percent for the Pro Max) already half a year.
  • In its entirety, a wmuch slower price decline expected, and prices will generally no longer fall as sharply.

In the end, all of this is a continuing trend that has already emerged with the iPhone 13, as the market professionals note. Florian Kriegel, price expert at Idealo, attests: “Our data shows that the prices of the Apple iPhone have been more stable recently – so the price decline is progressing more slowly. Therefore, it is likely that the prices of the new iPhone 14 models could also fall less quickly and less sharply. The reasons for this are likely to be the overall rise in prices and the tense macroeconomic situation. This also includes a weak euro and ongoing supply chain disruptions.”

Much older iPhones also get the new iOS 16, so you don’t have to buy a new model:

Is it worth buying a new one at any price?

The bottom line: If you want to save on the iPhone 14, you have to be patient and make do with less savings. The prices only fall much later and then not as much. Ergo: Maybe you’d rather use the current model a little longer? At the very least, an iPhone 13 or iPhone 12 certainly doesn’t need to be traded in at any cost.
