iPhone 14: Samsung Display will provide more than 80% of screens, far ahead of LG and BOE

After the success of the iPhone 13, Apple intends to continue its excellent momentum. The Cupertino company therefore had to equip itself with components, in particular for its Oled screens. A market dominated by Samsung Display, which provides a good part of the panels for our smartphones.

The Californian giant, however, explained that it wanted to obtain supplies from different manufacturers. In addition to Samsung Display, it has attached the services of LG Display but also of the Chinese BOE. A way to diversify so as not to depend on a single partner.

Ross Young, the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultant (DSCC), is often well informed on the matter. According to information retrieved internally (and published on the MyDrivers site), Samsung remains the big winner in history. Indeed, the South Korean firm would provide 82% of the screens of the next iPhone 14. An impressive figure when you know Apple’s ambitions.

LG Display would have recovered 12% of production, while BOE would be satisfied with 6%. It would therefore seem that Apple has passed the towel on the recent setbacks of the Chinese manufacturer. However, the latter will not deal with models stamped Pro. We know, however, that Samsung Display will equip all of the iPhone 14 Pro Max when they are launched.

Particularly ambitious orders

Young also gives more information on slab shipments to factories. 1.8 million screens were sent in June, 5.35 million in July, more than 10 million in August and 16.5 million are planned for September. This means that Apple is readying at least 34 million iPhone 14s for the first three months of their commercialization.

Now all you have to do is wait for the Far Out event, scheduled for September 7, to discover the new series from every angle. Four smartphones are expected, and we should learn more about the new A16 chip, which will probably only equip the Pro versions.
