If theApple Vision Pro is on everyone’s lips, the firm of Tim Cook will not delay before presenting its new iPhone.

Apple is having great difficulty incorporating solid-state buttons on its iPhones. Until it manages to find a solution (if it does not give up the idea by then), the Cupertino company seems to be considering removing one of the storage variants for its iPhone 15 Pro.

ProRes and 4K: change planned with the iPhone 15 Pro?

Deployed at the same time as the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max almost two years ago, the ProRes recording format allows video rendering that is perfectly suited to professionals. If the latter therefore offers exceptional results, the possibility of filming in 4K is unfortunately only reserved for iPhone models with a minimum of 256 GB of storage, in particular because of the size of the files. Consequently, people who had in their possession a device that did not meet these requirements had to settle for a Full HD rendering. Which is, let’s face it, rather unfortunate.

Because yes, whether it is the iPhone 13 Pro family or the iPhone 14 Pro, consumers have until now been able to opt for a model with 128 GB of storage. A situation which, according to the latest reports, is likely to change with the arrival of the new generation of iPhone.

iPhone 15 Pro: towards the disappearance of the 128 GB model?

According to a leaker on Twitter, it seems that the iPhone 15 Pro range will start from 256 GB in terms of internal memory. In other words, this year, all variants should logically be housed in the same boat and will therefore be able to capture videos in ProRes format in 4K. Regarding the basic models, namely the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, there should be no changes. The range should therefore always start from 128 GB of storage.

This distinction in processing related to the device memory between the different owners of iPhone 13/14 Pro and iPhone 13/14 Pro Max was particularly problematic since it created dissonances in the series of high-end iPhones. Apple. Thus, if Apple wants to offer 4K in ProRes format to all future iPhone 15 Pro owners, this will harmonize the range of devices. On the other hand, this also means that people who are generally used to getting the 128 GB model will probably have to pay a few tens of euros more when they go to checkout…

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

  • Dynamic Island
  • Overall performance
  • Screen quality

Tim Cook usually concludes his presentation of a new iPhone by stating that it is the best ever. He’s absolutely right when he talks about the brilliant iPhone 14 Pro Max in so many ways. We appreciate the quality of its screen, the phenomenal computing power of the SoC A16 Bionic, the increased autonomy, and above all, the improvement of the photo and video parts, already powerful on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Dynamic Island is a great way to camouflage the hideous notch that sits on iPhone screens…and even make it acceptable. In the end, this gadget is more useful than futile, and we quickly appreciate its presence.

There remain the annoying points, such as the absence of an electrical adapter, the slow charging of the battery, and of course, the price. To afford the “best iPhone ever designed”, you will have to pay at least 1,479 euros for the 128 GB version, an increase of 220 euros compared to the 13 Pro Max. The 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB versions are offered at 1,609, 1,869 and 2,129 euros respectively, i.e. increases of 230, 260 and 290 euros compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max of the same capacity.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is undoubtedly a great product. But its price becomes a deterrent for most potential buyers. In its 1 TB version, it crosses the 2,000 euro mark, like Samsung and its Galaxy Z Fold 4 (2,159 euros). After all, if buyers are ready to pay such sums, manufacturers would be wrong to deprive themselves of it…
