Apple is breaking tradition after tradition. Now probably also with the upcoming iPhone 15. After the company is already relying on new designs for the accessories for the next Apple Watch, the new iPhone is now apparently also getting an unexpected change in terms of accessories.
Long-time iPhone users should be familiar with the well-known leather cases that Apple has offered for purchase for previous iPhone models. According to several sources, the iPhone 15 will have to do without such a leather case. This is reported by, among others, the Apple-specialized leaker DuanRui on X (formerly Twitter) as well as internal sources from the Apple-related news platform 9to5Mac. However, the sources do not provide us with any explanations or reasons.
Apple could switch to higher quality materials
A strange step, because Apple has probably made good business with the leather cases sold separately in recent years. Since the different iPhone models always had slight differences in size, Apple fans ultimately had to buy a new case for each new device.
9to5Mac officials speculate that Apple may have made this move for two reasons. Either because the production of leather cases has a comparatively poor environmental impact or – and this is more likely – Apple wants to use an even higher quality material for the new cases for the iPhone 15. This would of course benefit Apple fans.
