iPhone 16, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max: the first characteristics have leaked, what we know

Apple’s next smartphones are starting to take shape. This is what the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro And iPhone 16 Pro Max.

If the launch of the next iPhones is not tomorrow, Apple’s teams are at work to refine the next range of smartphones. With a launch probably planned for the second half of September 2024, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro benefit from very final adjustments, before starting a first test production in the Asian production sites used by the brand.

As always, well-informed sources manage to break the culture of secrecy dear to Apple, and provide us with fairly precise information on the products currently being produced. The iPhone 16 is obviously no exception to the rule and numerous rumors allow us today to establish a rather complete sketch of the next range of smartphones.

iPhone 16 Pro: a consistent design and larger screens

Photos of molds published at the beginning of April suggest that the photo module of the iPhone 16 will evolve well this year. The two sensors would no longer be positioned diagonally, but united on the same line. The square area would be reduced, and would take up much less space on the back of the device. For the rest, the iPhone 16 would retain its 6.1-inch OLED screen, as well as the Dynamic Island, the pellet-shaped notch that can display notifications. On the other hand, it would integrate the Action button of the iPhone 15 Pro, to access features or shortcuts in one click.

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would have slightly larger screens. The iPhone 16 Pro would feature a 6.3-inch OLED screen, and the Max model would integrate a 6.9-inch screen, thanks to further reduced screen borders. Both models would retain a refresh rate of 120 Hz and an Always-On mode.

The OLED panels of the Pro models could also offer new display technology, with better brightness for slightly reduced energy consumption, which will improve the autonomy of the two smartphones.

The iPhone 16 Pro should finally offer a new key allowing quick access to the camera, in addition to the Action button. This button would be capacitive, not mechanical.

Real new features under the hood of the iPhone 16

The technical sheet of the iPhone 16 should not be a real break compared to that of the iPhone 15. Apple would plan to use a new processor, the A18. The Pro models would inherit a more powerful A18 Pro chip, but also equipped with a more efficient neural processor. The iPhone 16 Pro should be the most advanced models in terms of artificial intelligence, with features that could be reserved for them.

According to leaker AppleLeaker on X.com (formerly Twitter), the iPhone 16 Pro Max could also benefit from improved connectivity, with the presence of the Qualcomm X75 5G modem, as well as Wi-Fi 7. A thermal system Graphene would reduce the heat of the smartphone thanks to better dissipation.

For photography, the iPhone 16 would retain its two sensors, with a 48-megapixel wide-angle and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle. The iPhone 16 Pro could benefit from a brand new 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor, while the main sensor would be larger.

The iPhone 16 Pro would finally use a stacked battery system for greater energy density, and possibly faster charging.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Pro should be presented at the start of the 2024 school year, probably at the beginning of September, and available a few days later at prices which should not increase compared to the previous generation.
