Several visuals confirm a slight design change for theiPhone 16. The photo sensors would benefit from a new alignment, which is reminiscent of old iPhone models released a few years ago.

The iPhone 16 has not yet been released when information about it begins to multiply. After the very good iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro released last September, Apple is already working on the next models which should logically arrive at the start of the school year. Several rumors have already circulated about the characteristics that will equip the next flagship smartphone from the American manufacturer. Today, the design of the iPhone 16 is in the spotlight, with the publication of a few diagrams which would suggest a new positioning of the smartphone’s rear cameras.

It’s in old pots that we make the best designs

The diagrams reaching us today were retrieved by Majin Bu, a user of the social network X.com (formerly Twitter), and this information was corroborated by the teams of MacRumors.

We note that the placement of the iPhone 16 cameras would adopt a vertical alignment, unlike current models which offset the two wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle sensors by a few millimeters, placed in a square area.

This alignment of the sensors is necessarily reminiscent of old iPhones, and in particular the iPhone X or the iPhone 11, which used this arrangement at the time. The block in which the sensors are placed would also be more discreet, in the form of a capsule, and would bring a little more lightness to the back of the iPhone 16. The flash would be offset to the right of this area.

Two new buttons seem planned for the iPhone 16

The reason for this change in position of the iPhone 16’s photo sensors would be linked to the release of the Apple Vision Pro, the augmented reality headset available for a few days in the United States. The two sensors placed one under the other would allow this new iPhone to film spatial videos, that is to say with a depth effect to be subsequently broadcast in the headset. Today, only the iPhone 15 Pro is capable of filming spatial videos, as we mentioned in our test. Apple would thus give millions of users the opportunity to try this new functionality, and encourage them to test the Apple Vision Pro, and the probable future models that will arrive in the coming years.

The diagrams published today also allow us to see the Action button, inherited from the iPhone 15 Pro and which would arrive on all iPhone ranges in 2024. As a reminder, this button offers the possibility of adding a shortcut to the iPhone, for example to open an application.

We can finally see a new “Capture” button on the right edge of the iPhone 16, under the Sleep button. This key, as its name suggests, would open the camera with one click, a feature long requested by fans of the brand.

There are still a few months before the release of the iPhone 16, and we should, like every year, learn more about the new features expected in this new range in the coming weeks.

What are the best iPhones? Comparison 2024

Set like a Swiss watch, Apple launched its new batch of iPhones at the start of the school year. The latest batch brought us the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
