If you wanted a change for the side buttons of the next iPhones, then you may be disappointed with what’s to come.

Yes, Apple would have finally yielded to the difficulty of incorporating capacitive buttons in its future iPhones.

iPhone 15 Pro: so, will these famous buttons be there or not?

First, let’s give some context. At the beginning of the year, several clues suggested that the iPhone 15 Pro should have been equipped with semiconductor buttons. The idea was then to replace the physical volume buttons that we know with simple vibrations, all using the Taptic Engine, with the aim of simulating the feeling of pressure. On the other hand, last April, shortly before mass production, new reports began to appear on the Web. The latter evoked the constraints encountered by Apple with these famous capacitive buttons.

If the Apple brand has probably abandoned the idea of integrating this technology into its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, in particular due to inconclusive tests, everything suggested that the models to come the following year would finally be the first. to benefit from it. Well, think again: the problem encountered with these famous buttons seems to present itself as a real headache for the firm of Tim Cook.

Solid-state buttons missing from the iPhone until… 2025?

As the site tells us Wccftech, analyst Jeff Pu recently spoke about the difficulties encountered by Apple. According to his information, the various technical problems caused by these buttons have encouraged the Cupertino giant to abandon the idea of incorporating them into its future iPhone models, until the models to come in 2024. terms, understand by this that even the high-end iPhone 16s should not be equipped with these small solid state magic buttons.

Since the launch of the very first iPhone, Apple has never really made any changes to the side buttons of its smartphones. Capacitive buttons were therefore particularly expected for this reason. Nevertheless, and you will have understood it, you will have to arm yourself with a little more patience to hope to see change on this side…

Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max

  • Dynamic Island
  • Overall performance
  • Screen quality

Tim Cook usually concludes his presentation of a new iPhone by stating that it is the best ever. He’s absolutely right when he talks about the brilliant iPhone 14 Pro Max in so many ways. We appreciate the quality of its screen, the phenomenal computing power of the SoC A16 Bionic, the increased autonomy, and above all, the improvement of the photo and video parts, already powerful on the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Dynamic Island is a great way to camouflage the hideous notch that sits on iPhone screens…and even make it acceptable. In the end, this gadget is more useful than futile, and we quickly appreciate its presence.

There remain the annoying points, such as the absence of an electrical adapter, the slow charging of the battery, and of course, the price. To afford the “best iPhone ever designed”, you will have to pay at least 1,479 euros for the 128 GB version, an increase of 220 euros compared to the 13 Pro Max. The 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB versions are offered at 1,609, 1,869 and 2,129 euros respectively, i.e. increases of 230, 260 and 290 euros compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max of the same capacity.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is undoubtedly a great product. But its price becomes a deterrent for most potential buyers. In its 1 TB version, it crosses the 2,000 euro mark, like Samsung and its Galaxy Z Fold 4 (2,159 euros). After all, if buyers are ready to pay such sums, manufacturers would be wrong to deprive themselves of it…
