iPhone SE 2022: renders suggest a design close to the iPhone XR

Apple will lift the veil on its next iPhone SE in a few months, but the web is already wondering about the design and the technical sheet of the latter. One leaker has published some interesting renderings.

The SE range is the most affordable at Apple and represents substantial sales for the firm. This is why the next model already seems to generate significant enthusiasm among brand enthusiasts. Many rumors therefore surround this new model, especially with regard to its design, even if these indications should be considered with caution.

the leaker David Kowalski, who has already been right on several models, shared renderings of the smartphone in question. These are leaked CAD documents (designs created on computers). We thus discover a device with curves very similar to the previous version.

The change is now ?

The main change would be to its screen, since it would offer a notch, like that of the iPhone X, rather than wide borders. It would be a slightly smaller 5.69 inch panel, still using LCD technology. The switch to Oled, which equips the brand’s more expensive smartphones, has therefore not yet been finalized. On the other hand, it would be the latest LCD model from the manufacturer, which is not surprising.

According to Kowalski’s design, it could therefore house the Face ID biometric authentication system. The smartphone could however be entitled to a fingerprint sensor located on the edge, like the latest iPads. Finally, there is a single photo sensor on the back.

Note, however, that other rumors (relayed by the developer and leaker dylandkt) announce that this iPhone SE 2022 would still be inspired by the iPhone 8 and that these renderings could well concern a model stamped SE for 2024. The terminal would thus retain a 4.7-inch panel.

What hardware? Once again, nothing seems fixed, but it is likely that some components from the latest iPhone 13 will be used. This could be the case with the A15 Bionic chip, which would in fact ensure compatibility with 5G. It would indeed seem surprising that such a model is not up to date on the connectivity segment.

The iPhone SE 2020 was offered at €489 (in 64 GB) when it was released. It remains to be seen whether Apple will take advantage of this to increase the price of its smartphone.
