They really do exist: iPhone fans who, after years in the Apple universe, are in the mood for something different. Because iOS convinces with its intuitive operation, but leaves users much less freedom and options for customization than Android. After the successful system change, you can look forward to a huge selection of apps in the Google Play Store. Of course, anyone who dares to make the jump from iPhone to Android does not want to start from scratch. But how do photos, contacts and other data get from the old to the new cell phone? COMPUTER BILD explains how to get to the Android world without any problems.

Despite all the technical intricacies of today’s smartphones: The personal contact list is the holy grail of most phones. When changing the system from iOS to Android, it is all the more important to transfer contacts seamlessly and without errors:
- On the iPhone, go to the account listed at the top ideas and choose iCloud. Make sure the switch is at contactsField is activated. The data is stored in Apple’s cloud system.
- Go to icloud.com in your browser. Enter your user details, call contacts and then click the settings icon (gear) in the lower left. A selection window opens. To save all contacts bundled, go to the option Select all. Finally, save the contacts with Export vCard locally on your computer.
- The goal is getting closer! Go to gmail.com and log in. At the top right you switch to Google apps (Square of tiles) and contacts from the mailbox to the Google contact overview. click on Import, Choose a file and the vCard saved in the previous step. Finally, add the by clicking on Import added. Voilà, your contacts have made the move from the Apple cosmos to the Android world.

Calendar entries also move
- Click on that calendar-Symbol. The planners are listed in the left field. Use the share icon (reception bar) to the right of the calendar name to specify the calendar to be shared. Choose Public calendar. A link appears, which you copy into the browser address line and change slightly: At the beginning of the jumble of letters and numbers comes “http” instead of “webcal”. You can then save the file on your PC or Mac.
- Next, check out your Google Calendar on the web. The gear icon takes you to the ideas. In the bar on the left click on Import & export and choose Import, Select file from my computer and after selecting the previously saved file Import. Ready!

Back up photos
Snapshots from the latest party or picturesque holiday pictures give your smartphone a personal touch. Therefore, you should not forget the photographic memories when switching. With cloud services such as Dropbox, you can back up images regardless of platform. If you are planning a long-term stay in the Google cosmos, we recommend using Google Photos. Download the iOS app from the App Store. To transfer your digital memories, tap in the app on the account symbol in the top right corner, Google photos settings such as Back-up & sync and enclose the switch Back-up & sync around. The images can then be called up on your Android device via the Photos app.

Purchased apps
Have you spent a not insignificant amount in Apple’s App Store over the years and want to continue using your favorite programs on the new Android smartphone? The good news: You can find many iOS apps in the same or slightly modified form in the Google Play Store. The bad news: your previous purchases are worthless on the new system, and you’ll have to dig into your wallet again. Exceptions are subscriptions and premium services such as Netflix and Dropbox, which work across systems.
