New court decision regarding services: following the complaint of La Liga, the Spanish football league, the IPTV Smarters Pro application has been removed from the Play Store by Google. A nice victory for the organization, but which is still far from being done with pirate content distribution applications.
Services IPTV definitely have something to worry about. For several years now, the justice system and the beneficiaries have been tightening the noose around the pirates behind illegal broadcasting platforms, and do not hesitate to impose fines sometimes amounting to several million euros. Often, however, it is the platform itself that is directly targeted by the authorities.
La Liga understood this perfectly and, at the beginning of last year, drew up a daunting list of apps and sites it deems illegal. According to the Spanish football league, there are no less than 20 IPTV services, 30 streaming sites and 80 applications, namely video players, which violate the law of its country in terms of broadcasting.

“It is important to note that all these players allow the consumption of an innumerable amount of audiovisual content such as sports, films, serial television channels, etc. In other words, this problem affects the entire audiovisual and entertainment industry in general”, hammers the application. Argument received by justice, which pronounced a first judgment in its favor.
In effect, a first application has just disappeared following the La Liga investigation. It is IPTV Smarters Pro, which since the beginning of the year no longer appears in the columns of the Google Play Store. Justice recognized that the application made it possible to “view the premium TV channels in which La Liga matches were broadcast, among other content. »
Note, however, that this court decision only concerns Spain. IPTV Smarters Pro is therefore still available in France on Android smartphones. Meanwhile, the market continues to grow at an exponential rate, having recently exceeded one billion euros in turnover.
