Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti was arrested on Saturday by Iranian authorities.

Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti, who recently starred in Saeed Roustaee’s drama Leïla et ses frères, presented in competition at the last Cannes Film Festival, was arrested on Saturday by Iranian authorities.

The actress openly supported the protest movement that has shaken Iran since the death of the young Mahsa Amini after her arrest by the morality police last September.

According to Tasnim, Iranian News Agency, Taraneh Alidoosti was arrested for her “recent actions in publishing false information and content, and for inciting chaos”.

The 38-year-old actress is very famous in Iran, she has filmed several times under the direction of Asghar Farhadi, in La Fête du Feu, About Elly and Le Client, which was awarded the 2017 Oscar for Best International Film.

Several celebrities, including actress Golshifteh Farahani, support the actress and demand her release in Tehran.
