DUBAI (Reuters) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassadors of Britain, France and Germany on Sunday to denounce what it called an “irresponsible stance” regarding Tehran’s retaliation against Israel, Iran’s semi-official ILNA news agency reported.

The three European countries condemned the attack by Iran, which launched hundreds of drones and missiles against Israel during the night from Saturday to Sunday, in response to what Tehran considers to be an Israeli strike carried out on April 1 against the Iranian consulate in Damascus.

The director for Western Europe of the Iranian Foreign Ministry accused the three countries of practicing “double standards.”

“Iran’s military action against the bases of the (Israeli) Zionist regime is fully within the framework of the right to self-defense stipulated in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and constitutes a response to a series crimes, including the recent attack on the embassy in Syria,” the official added.
