Iraq: Powerful explosion on military base


BAGHDAD, April 20 (Reuters) – A powerful explosion rocked a military base used by the Popular Mobilization Units south of Iraq’s capital Baghdad late on Friday, two sources at the rally told Reuters. armed movements supported by Iran and two security sources.

The two security sources said the explosion was caused by an unidentified airstrike that occurred around midnight Friday.

Sources within the Popular Mobilization Units stressed that the strikes caused no casualties but caused damage.

According to these sources, the strikes targeted a headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Units at the Kalso military base, located near the town of Iskandariyah, about 50 kilometers south of Baghdad.
