The fashion world has lost one of its most dazzling figures – Iris Apfel has died at the age of 102. Numerous celebrities are mourning.

She was known for her extravagant looks and especially her oversized glasses and called herself a “geriatric starlet” – Iris Apfel (1921-2024) died on March 1st at the age of 102. Numerous stars are mourning the eccentric fashion icon on social media, who signed her first modeling contract at the age of 97.

“You have mastered the art of life. I thank you for your energy and inspiration,” wrote musician Lenny Kravitz (59) under a post on Apfel’s Instagram account announcing her death.

Lily Collins mourns Iris Apfel

Actress Lily Collins (34) commented: “The fashion gods welcome an icon.” In an Instagram story The “Emily in Paris” actress also explained that she was allowed to wear an Apfel design in the series. “Your style will live on and your work will be celebrated forever,” Collins continues. “What a woman. Fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger (72), who arranged a modeling contract for the then 97-year-old Iris Apfel in 2019, paid tribute to her in a statement as an “innovator and leader” who will “go down in history.” “Iris Apfel became a world-famous fashion icon because of her incredible talent – not only as an artist but also as an influencer,” he continued.
