This big update will be rolled out to all users ofrobot vacuum cleaners
Roomba before the end of June 2022.

If iRobot offers fewer models than its direct competitors, the American brand is working hard to improve the user experience of robot vacuum cleaners with major updates.

Siri joins Google Assistant and Alexa for Apple device owners

The company has just announced the launch of Genius 4.0 Home Intelligence, a revision of the software present in its various Roomba vacuum cleaners, but also in the Bravaa Jet floor scrubber, which will be deployed throughout the spring of 2022.

The main new feature of this update is support for Apple’s voice assistant Siri, and specifically Siri Shortcuts. To activate the feature, you will need to set a sentence like ” Hey Siri, start the vacuum from iOS or the iRobot App to record the voice command. Now, iRobot robot vacuums are compatible with all three voice assistant systems in addition to Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. On the other hand, the integration with HomeKit always responds to absent subscribers.

For the rest, this update brings some additional features such as the addition of a “Do not disturb” mode to prevent the robot vacuum from starting a cycle in the middle of the night, the customization of cleaning according to each room for robots equipped with a mapping system or the locking of the physical “Clean” button so that your children do not trigger the robot inadvertently.

Owners of the Roomba j7 and j7+ models, the latest from iRobot and equipped with an object recognition system, will also be happy to know that their vacuum cleaners will be able to identify and recognize socks and towels as they pass.
