John Lennon, “Kick-Ass”, “Kraven the Hunter” and now James Bond? A portrait of the alleged new 007 actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson (33) is reportedly about to sign as the new James Bond. According to “The Sun”, the Eon production company led by Barbara Broccoli (63) is said to have made an official offer to the actor. A reason to introduce the presumed successor to Daniel Craig (56) in the prestigious 007 role.

Young Charlie Chaplin and young John Lennon

Born on June 13, 1990 as Aaron Johnson in Buckinghamshire, the Englishman began acting as a child, first on the theater stage. He made his film debut in 2002 in “Tom & Thomas”, where he played identical twins. In “Shanghai Knights” in 2003, he played the young Charlie Chaplin (1899-1977), who is a member of a London street gang, alongside Jackie Chan (69) and Owen Wilson (55).

After teen roles in “Lord of Thieves” and “The Illusionist”, the public first became aware of the young actor on a large scale through “Nowhere Boy”. Taylor-Johnson played the young John Lennon (1940-1980) before his time with the Beatles.

Known through marriage to a woman 24 years older than him

Aaron Taylor-Johnson made headlines with “Nowhere Boy,” but not so much for his acting performance. The then 18-year-old met director Sam Taylor-Wood (now 57), who was 24 years his senior. They made their engagement public at the film’s premiere gala.

The couple married in 2012 and both took the name Taylor-Johnson. In the same year their second daughter was born. The first was born in 2010. Sam Taylor-Johnson, who later directed “Fifty Shades of Grey” and has just finished filming the Amy Winehouse biopic “Back to Black”, brought two children from her first marriage into the relationship.

Golden Globe win without an Oscar nomination

In 2010, Aaron Taylor-Johnson had his final breakthrough beyond the tabloid press. He played the title role in the shrill, brutal comic film adaptation “Kick-Ass”. A stable career followed without any major upward swings. In “Savages” (2012) by Oliver Stone (77), he took on one of the main roles as a dealer who takes on a Mexican cartel. In the same year he appeared in the Tolstoy film adaptation “Anna Karenina” alongside Keira Knightley (38). With “Avengers: Age of Ultron” he briefly became part of the Marvel Universe as Pietro Maximoff.

In 2016, Aaron Taylor-Johnson surprisingly won the Golden Globe for his supporting role as a sadistic Texas killer in “Nocturnal Animals.” A career highlight, although the Brit managed the rare “feat” of not receiving an Oscar nomination for the role despite winning the Globe. In recent years, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has focused on action films, for example in “Bullet Train” or in “Tenet”, the spectacle by Christopher Nolan (53) that is stylistically clearly inspired by James Bond.

Even if things don’t work out with James Bond, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is still in business. He has several lucrative projects in the pipeline. From May onwards he can be seen alongside Ryan Gosling (43) in “The Fall Guy”, the film version of the cult series “A Gun for All Cases”. He is also in the new film of the horror classic “Nosferatu”, which is not expected until 2025.

“Kraven the Hunter” has long been finished. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays the title role in the new film from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. The film is the successor to “Venom”, “Morbius” and “Madame Web”, the latter two of which are anything but critics’ favorites. If “Kraven the Hunter” is successful and goes into series, this could well collide with an engagement as 007.
