To help creators better monetize their content, instagram announced new features that users will only be able to access by paying a subscription.

Paid subscriptions have been tested on the platform since the beginning of the year with a handful of American creators.

Paid subscriptions will include more features

Since this period, users who take out a paid subscription, which varies between 0.99 and 99.99 dollars, have access to exclusive content from their favorite creators, such as Stories, but also live broadcasts organized only with paying subscribers. They get a purple badge on their profile to indicate their support for a creator or influencer.

In a video logically posted on Instagram, the leader of the platform, Adam Mosseri, announced new features for paid subscriptions launched following feedback from creators who tested this tool. Now, in addition to Stories and Lives, paid subscribers will also have exclusive access to Reels and Main Feed posts.

In addition, the creators will be able to discuss by direct messages with 30 people simultaneously as on a chat, provided that they obviously take out a paid subscription.

Instagram is changing

We want to make Instagram the best place online for creators to make a living. Sustainable income is one of the most important things for creators today because if you’re a creator, you’re a business. says Adam Mosseri.

With paid subscriptions, Instagram is a little closer to what Twitter has implemented with Twitter Blue, or even an adult platform like OnlyFans. However, it will be necessary to wait some time before seeing them land in France, because, for the moment, the platform continues its tests across the Atlantic.

More generally, Instagram is trying to transform itself to stand up to TikTok. The Chinese application has indeed come to upset the social network sector. This will also go through a new interface with a full-screen feed for all content, whether Reels, Stories or classic posts. It remains to be seen whether users will be convinced: a few weeks ago, many people complained about the new interface of the platform.
