In 2009, Isabelle Mergault fell for little Maya and decided to adopt her when her biological mother could not take care of her. "When Maya was three years old, it was obvious: I had become her mother. We signed a simple adoption which takes place only with the agreement of the biological mom,"she explained in Tea or coffee in 2017. If Maya, now 11 years old, kept in touch with her biological mother, she knew how to build a magnificent relationship with the director of the film Finally widowed.
For Isabelle Mergault, adoption was not in her plans, as she had entrusted to Gala. "Given my relationship to guys, I never thought of reproducing myself,"she said. And to expose the fears of the girl at the time of her arrival in her life:"Maya, who is originally from Niger, said, "So I'm going to be white?" It worried him about this color difference. One day when she was four years old, I showed her the people who tanned on a beach: "Look, they dream of being like you". We never talked about it again."
A great relationship
"She is beautiful like a heart, she is strong like a little chick and weak like a rock. She is a mixture of everything," confided Isabelle Mergault three years ago in Tea or coffee, and even today, there is no shortage of pretty qualifiers. Thursday July 16, 2020, Laurent Ruquier's friend posted a photo of Maya on Twitter, with the caption: "My daughter is too serious. We are at the hotel and instead of going to the mini bar or understanding the command of the tv, she reads the instructions of the hotel !!"At 11, Maya seems to be a young girl who likes to learn all the time.
