Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen have separated after 13 years of marriage. There have been signs for a long time that the marriage was about to end.
Isla Fisher (48) and Sacha Baron Cohen (52) filed for divorce last year after 13 years of marriage. The two actors recently announced this on Instagram. At least for Fisher, the end of his marriage to the “Borat” star came as no surprise. She is said to have contacted a top divorce lawyer months before the separation. “Isla has known for some time that the marriage is over,” explained an insider told the British newspaper “The Sun”.
“After some difficult conversations with Sacha, she decided to consult a divorce lawyer. That was in early summer 2022,” the informant explained. Fisher had already turned to star lawyer Fiona Shackleton (67). Among other things, she negotiated the divorce of King Charles (75) and Princess Diana (1961-1997) as well as Paul McCartney (81). “Fiona Shackleton was recommended by mutual acquaintances and Isla was put in touch with an associate at the firm,” the source explained.
Amicable agreement for the benefit of the children
“It was suggested that they settle things as amicably as possible for the children’s benefit,” the insider said. With Shackleton at her side, Fisher is determined to get the divorce through as best as possible. Her ex-partner has also sought legal advice. He is said to be in contact with the lawyer Laura Wasser (55), who represented Johnny Depp (60) in his divorce from Amber Heard (37).
Divorce after 20 years of love
Fisher and Cohen met in Sydney in 2001 and were married nine years later. The two have three children together. On April 6, the actor couple announced that they had separated. “After a long tennis match that has lasted more than twenty years, we are finally putting down the rackets,” said the joint statement. Their devotion and love for their children will always bind them together.
The divorce announcement comes amid controversy. Sacha Baron Cohen is currently facing serious allegations from Rebel Wilson (44). The actress accuses her co-star of “asshole behavior” on the set of “The Spy and His Brother” in her memoir. Cohen denies the allegations.
