JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israeli President Isaac Herzog will task Benjamin Netanyahu with forming a government on Sunday, his office said in a statement on Friday.

This decision comes at the end of consultations of the Head of State, Friday, with the parties elected to the Knesset during the legislative elections of November 1, won with 64 seats out of 120 by the right-wing coalition led by the former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Head of government from 1996 to 1999, then from 2009 to 2021, Benjamin Netanyahu, 73, continues to have trouble with the justice system in his country for corruption cases.

The Likud chairman is expected to build a coalition with the far right and ultra-Orthodox parties.
