“It shocked me”: Letitia Wright reacts to Black Panther 2 post-credits scene

In an interview given to Variety, Letitia Wright returned to one of the scenes of Black Panther 2 that marked her the most.

The rewrite and filming of Black Panther 2 after the death of Chadwick Boseman in August 2020 has been both complicated and emotional for Ryan Coogler and his teams. If the pundits of Marvel did not wish to replace him, the only solution that remained for the writers was to make a tribute film that honors his memory.

If it was finally Shuri who slipped into the Black Panther costume, the end of the film suggested that the young woman does not really want to keep this role. And the post-credits scene – where T’Challa’s hidden son appears – makes us think that this character could one day follow in his father’s footsteps.

It is precisely this scene that most affected the interpreter of Shuri. In an interview given to Variety, Letitia Wright explains that it was for her “another way to honor Chadwick and T’Challa. In the first version of the screenplay written before his death, it was about the relationship between a father and his son. We had to find a way to continue that legacy, especially for black boys around the world. This scene shocked me“.

It is not yet known what role Toussaint (Divine Love Konatu-Su) will play in the MCU. He’s currently far too young to reprise the role of Black Panther, but his middle name (T’Challa) clearly hints that he’ll represent the greatness, strength and hope that the Marvel superhero embodied on screen.
