It starts today: the difficult confidences of Carole Dechantre (The Mysteries of love) on her cancer

This Friday March 25, 2022, Carole Dechantre was invited on the set of It starts today, on France 2. With emotion, the actress of the Mysteries of love confided in her skin cancer.

A moving testimony… Friday, March 25, 2022, It starts today had the theme: When celebrities break the taboo of illness. Invited on the set of the show, Carole Dechantre, the interpreter of Ingrid in The mysteries of love surrendered to her cancer. “I still feel a bit illegitimate because I really think mine is the simplest cancer. It’s skin cancer!“, she revealed before explaining: “It’s a preventable cancer. It is really our duty to raise awareness, to speak out, to take advantage of this notoriety that we can have to bring people to realize that they must be screened and consulted.

Referring to the discovery of her cancer, the pretty brunette revealed: “The first nine years ago, under the eye. It was a kind of little pimple, a little cyst, which remained, which was there. Well the months go by and normally the little button is supposed to go away but it stays. I go to see my dermatologist who looks and says, ‘Ah, we’re going to do a biopsy.’ And indeed, after the biopsy, we saw that it was cancerous. He had to take it off, and he said to me: ‘It will really be nothing!’ In fact, I am lucky to be followed by a great surgeon in Switzerland, who performs micrographic surgery, that is to say, he removes a minimum of substance to be able to remove only small bits of cancer. It’s not scars where we’re going to remove as much as possible because we don’t really know.“Asked by Faustine Bollaert about her reaction to the word cancer, Carole Dechantre explained:”Cancer is a word that is absolutely not taboo in my house, because no kidding, we are a bit like a family of cancer patients. My sister had a Hodgkin, she died, she had it at 27 and she died two weeks before she was 30. My mother had breast cancer, my father had prostate cancer… Then I said to myself: ‘You pay for it a little with your excess of sun.’ It was a bit well done for me.

Carole Dechantre: “My experience, I wanted to share it”

Suffering from skin cancer, the actress immediately wanted to talk about it in order to do prevention. “I communicated about it a year after the second operation because in fact my friends realized that in fact it could happen to them and that the little pimple they knew could be cancer (…) So they all went to consult their dermatologists, everyone!“, she revealed before adding: “Second operation, which was on the cheek, there I decided to talk about it. I said to myself: ‘Okay, I have a kind of mission, I don’t want it to be useless to live what I live, I want to be able to share it so that people take action, protect themselves from the sun, because if I had protected myself, I wouldn’t have had this.’ I really think it’s essential to have this awareness and I didn’t want it to be useless. My experience, I wanted to share it.
