What are the physiological and psychological consequences of a miscarriage? These are the questions addressed by the France 2 program, “It starts today” this Tuesday. A subject that is still taboo but which nevertheless affects many women, to whom the producer of this program wanted to give hope.
“Miscarriages, taboo grief”: this is the theme of the show It starts today of this Tuesday noon, presented by Faustine Bollaert. On the program, three women with diverse backgrounds who will share their experience and the difficulties they have encountered. For the producer of the show Stéphanie Guérin, it was indeed important to explore this still taboo subject. She explained at the microphone of Europe 1 what motivated her to take up the question.
“This subject of miscarriages is still something quite taboo in our society even if we are in 2022. It is something we do not talk about even if we all know women who have experienced a miscarriage But deep down, we don’t really know what they went through physiologically and even less psychologically,” she pointed out. “During our investigation, we realized that the medical teams are sometimes clumsy,” said Stéphanie Guérin, before specifying that many women have contacted the production of the show to ask her to address this subject.
“Give hope to women” who are going through this ordeal
According to a report published in 2021 in the journal The Lancet, 23 million miscarriages occur each year worldwide. To explore this subject, Faustine Bollaert will receive three women, of different ages and experiences. “We decided to receive and interview three women: one had a first child from a previous union and is struggling to have a second after three miscarriages, another has experienced 13 miscarriages and finally the last has lived 11 miscarriages. She adopted and then she finally managed to have two children. These are stories of trials, of bereavement, but there is also hope”, continued Stéphanie Guérin.
The producer assures her, it was important to receive “resilient” women. “They can give hope to all the women who are at home going through this.” This episode of It starts today is to be found this Tuesday on France 2 from 1:30 p.m.
