“It was so creepy” … Hilarie Burton (Peyton) reveals a chilling anecdote about the behavior of the creator of the Scott Brothers

In the Drama Queens podcast, Hilarie Burton (Peyton) went behind the scenes of the filming of episode 13 of season 5 of “The Scott Brothers) in which she gave the reply to Mark Schwahn, the creator of the series.

It’s no longer a secret: behind-the-scenes filming of Les Frères Scott was far from being as stellar as we thought. Since the end of the series in 2012, the languages of the actresses and the technical teams have gradually loosened.

In 2017, several women, including Sophia Bush (Brooke), Hilarie Burton (Peyton) and Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley), had published a letter to denounce the inappropriate behavior of the creator of the series, Mark Schwahn.

And since the launch of their Drama Queens podcast, the three actresses have regularly come back behind the scenes of the series, and their relationship with the creator whom she nicknames “Voldemort”, “Boss” or even “the one we should not pronounce the name”.

Hilarie Burton anxious to shoot a scene with the creator

In one of the last episodes of the podcast, posted on August 21, Hilarie Burton returned to a scene from season 5 that particularly marked her. A sequence from episode 13 in which the actress gave the reply to Mark Schwahn, who had given himself a role on the screen, that of Max, a record store close to Peyton.

I didn’t talk to him in real life, so he wrote himself a character in an episode to hug me. It was so creepy…” she confided to her co-stars. “When I got the script, I was like, ‘Come on, it’s just a day’s work, it’s just a day’s work’”.

To cope with the filming of this scene which promised to be trying, Hilarie Burton asked her relatives to be present on the set, in particular her father. “It was my boyfriend’s dad who was the director of the episode, and I also had my brother on set but that wasn’t enough. I invited my dad to come over that day and he stayed behind the monitor all day. Which was rather strange, right? He wasn’t there to be friendly. He was there to be present.

Hilarie Burton explained that the presence of her father gave her a feeling of protection: “You can’t touch me, you can’t have a fair conversation with me, you can’t do any of this if I’m joking with my dad.

She even revealed with a laugh that her father had gone with one of the team members to the parking lot, which Mark Schwahn could see from his office, in order to play with whips by cracking them very loudly to send a message not necessarily very subtle to the creator.

This isn’t the first time Hilarie Burton has spoken out about Mark Schwahn’s inappropriate behavior on the set of The Brothers Scott. Last March, she revealed that Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) had to defend her against the creator during the filming of the episode in Texas.
