Italy receives 16.5 billion euros in European funds for “post-COVID-19” recovery

ROME (Reuters) – The European Commission paid Italy a fourth tranche of 16.5 billion euros of post-COVID-19 recovery funds on Thursday, the Italian Council Presidency’s office said in a statement.

So far, Italy has received around 102 billion euros under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), the main contribution of the European recovery plan, out of a total envelope of around 194.4 Billions of Euro’s.

“The payment is the result of the achievement, confirmed by the European Union, of all 28 objectives and targets linked to the fourth tranche,” the statement read.

The European Commission last month gave a preliminary green light to Italy’s request for the fourth tranche.
