MILAN, Feb 22 (Reuters) – A 52-year-old worker died on Thursday following an accident at a Stellantis factory in southern Italy, metalworkers’ unions said, calling for a strike immediate.
The victim was a maintenance worker for a subcontracting company at the Pratola Serra engine plant, the unions said in a joint statement.
Stellantis, which markets the Fiat, Jeep and Peugeot brands in particular, was not immediately available for comment.
The worker was crushed by a machine, a union source said.

In a separate statement, the unions indicated that they had declared a strike on this site for the entire day of Thursday.
The death fuels concerns over workplace safety standards in the country.
The issue made headlines again last week when five workers were killed and three seriously injured after a slab collapsed at a supermarket construction site in Florence.
