In Israel, we are concerned about the rise in anti-Semitic acts abroad, particularly in France. The Israeli press criticizes the positions of a large part of the French left on this subject. Concern is growing among Franco-Israelis, who are very numerous in the country, more than 100,000 of whom live in Israel.

The Israeli press is concerned about the rise in anti-Semitic acts abroad and particularly in France. Having lived in Israel for fifteen years, Jean-David Abramovich follows the rise of anti-Semitism in France with concern: “it really is the image of a nightmare that is produced and reproduced. The Jewish cross, blue crosses which were painted on the walls of Paris, it’s shocking.”

“I don’t rule out leaving Israel”

Images which were broadcast and commented on in the Israeli media, but these French people also talk about it among themselves: “We are all very worried and very alarmed by this situation and we take the events very seriously,” explains Jean-David. More than 100,000 Franco-Israelis live in Israel and many like him are torn by what they see.

“I do not exclude leaving Israel if events become really very difficult. But it is true that France is not necessarily the ideal destination. I am afraid, there is a concern there” . And France is not the only one affected by this phenomenon. Worldwide, anti-Semitic incidents have increased by a staggering 1,180% since the start of the Hamas attack on October 7.
