Android 13 arrives in beta on the Nothing phone (1) via the Nothing OS 1.5 interface. First in beta, the update will be available in a stable version from January 2023.
The update was fast approaching, it is now official. Android 13 will arrive on the Nothing phone (1) through the Nothing OS 1.5 interface. This is meant to be “smoother and more secure, with new custom features, available onlyon this phone.
Available initially in beta, the update to Nothing OS 1.5 (Android 13) will be entitled to a stable version deployed in January 2023.Until then, we will work closely with the beta testers and integrate their feedback into the final version in a process of continuous improvement of the Nothing experience.“, we read in a press release from the brand.
What’s new in Nothing OS 1.5 on the phone (1)
The manufacturer also shares a list of new features brought by this update – beyond the classic functions of Android 13.
Among the new features highlighted, we note the arrival of a weather application specially designed by Nothing, a new interface to make it easier to adjust the volume of ringtones and media (even without turning on the screen) or even an overhaul of the quick settings for new popups regarding connection networks and Bluetooth devices. Added to this is also an improved application opening speed of 50%.
More anecdotally, we can also report a more practical QR Code scanner or an improved game mode for less intrusive notifications during your games. After four months with the Nothing phone (1), we greatly appreciated the phone, but the interface, which was quite poor in customization options, was a real downside. The arrival of Android 13 and Nothing OS 1.5 could partially remedy this.
