“It’s excellent”: the next Alien is validated by the director of the original film, and it promises to be remarkable!

“Everyone looked away”: Isabela Merced, the lead actress of the highly anticipated “Alien Romulus” promises “disgusting” scenes that marked the film team.

On August 14, 2024, Alien Romulus, a new chapter in the xenomorph saga, will be released in theaters to give us cold sweats. 45 years after the first part by Ridley Scott, the franchise returns to its origins with this new feature film by Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe).

After the commercial failure of Alien Covenant in 2017, the Briton abandoned the viscous monsters to favor the biopic with Gucci and Napoleon. For many fans, the fact that Ridley Scott is passing the baton to horror great Fede Alvarez is a very good thing.

The director knew how to dust off the Evil Dead saga in the cinema, we can trust him to relaunch the Alien saga. Will he succeed in regaining his reputation after two disappointing episodes (Prometheus and Covenant)?

A traumatic scene?

The main actress of Alien Romulus, Isabela Merced, is convinced of this. Asked by The Hollywood Reporterthe 22-year-old young woman has promised some very bloody sequences, including one that is particularly traumatic.

“When we reshot certain scenes, Fede Alvarez gave me the iPad on which he was watching the video feedback. He had access to the film on this tablet”says the actress.

Everyone behind me looked away. No one looked at the iPad anymore because it was so disgusting.

Curious, Isabela Merced then asks the filmmaker if she can watch some passages from the feature film.

“I was holding the tablet and about ten people gathered around me to watch too. I started a scene where I was acting and everyone behind me looked away. No one was looking at the iPad so much anymore. It was disgusting. And I was watching it like: It’s so exciting!”confides the actress.

Blood and guts!

Isabela Merced didn’t give any more clues about the scene, but knowing Fede Alvarez, we have no doubt about her propensity to spare us nothing in terms of horror. Will the sequence in question be as traumatic as that of the “chestbuster” of the first film, when the creature tore into John Hurt’s abdomen? Response August 14, 2025 at the cinema.

In this 9th episode of the Alien series, “a group of young people from a distant world find themselves confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe”we read in the synopsis of the upcoming fiction.

The viscous and sticky xenormorph intends to make our little troop drool! Romulus should therefore return to the sources of the saga, in the manner of Prey, which reconnected with the tone of its illustrious elder, Predator.

Guest of the DGA Latino Summit 2023 in Los Angeles on October 17, Fede Alvarez revealed that he showed the film to Ridley Scott and that the latter loved it. “He came into the room, and he said: Fede, what can I say? F…this is excellent.”.

If you were traumatized by the drooling and teething of this mythical pop culture monster, you can tremble, because in the cinema, no one will hear you scream!
