33. This is the number of launches already carried out by SpaceX in 2022. The group announced at the end of last week that it had broken its own launch record.

It’s only July, but SpaceX has already broken its annual launch record. In 2021, the group had as a reminder successfully carried out 31 launches into orbit. We are now at 33 for the year 2022, counting the launch of satellites conducted on July 24 by the firm.

SpaceX, a prolific astronautics firm… in particular thanks to Starlink

It will not have escaped your notice that by breaking its record in July, SpaceX has plenty of time to set a much higher record by the end of the year. This is also the intention of the group, which indicated at the end of January that it wanted to carry out 52 launch missions in 2022. A goal that seems more within reach than ever.

As pointed out The Verge, if SpaceX manages to chain the launches so quickly, it is because the firm is its own customer, in particular within the framework of the progressive deployment of Starlink. The launches operated on behalf of the satellite internet service follow one another at high speed. The latest has once again brought 53 additional satellites online, bringing their total number to around 2,600.
