According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, AI made “Terminator” a reality and James Cameron is an unparalleled genius!
For Arnold Schwarzenegger, Terminator is no longer a fantasy given the current state of artificial intelligence. Speaking at a press event in Los Angeles (via Variety), the actor said James Cameron’s 1984 action classic has now become a reality. As a reminder, the film takes place in a world where an artificially intelligent defense network, known as Skynet, has become self-aware and conquered humanity. About AI, he said:
Today, everyone is afraid of it, of knowing where it will go. And in this movie, in Terminator, we’re talking about the machines becoming self-aware and they’re taking over… Now, over the decades, it’s become a reality. So it’s no longer fantasy or somehow futuristic. It is here today. And so it is the extraordinary writing of Jim Cameron.
Full of praise for the director of Avatar, the actor added: “He’s just such an amazing writer and he’s such an amazing director, it’s still one of those things that I wish I could take credit for, this movie. I can only take credit for the character I played and the way I played him. But I mean, he created this character. He wrote it so well, he wrote the movie so well, and that’s why he’s, you know, the number one director in the world.”
AI IN HOLLYWOOD
