its performances are already revealed and we expected better

What is believed to be the Pixel 8a reveals its performance on Geekbench. It would seem that the mid-range smartphone has a less efficient version of Google’s Tensor G3 processor.

The Google Pixel 7a

The Pixel 8 and 8 Pro have not yet been released, but that does not prevent us from looking now at a possible mid-range model. If Google continues its momentum, we should see a Pixel 8a. Logical successor to the very good Pixel 7a, it reveals its performance well ahead of Geekbench, the measurement software. As usual, the results should be viewed with caution, as they are subject to change.

Note that the scores of the Google Akitathe code name of the supposed Pixel 8a, were measured on the Geekbench version 5which is at version 6. This means that its are weaker than if they had been provided by Geekbench 6. Even so, they are not famous. The mobile processor is the Tensor G3, the chip made in Google. It will also equip the 8 and 8 Pro models in a probably more efficient version. Here, the fastest core has a frequency of 2.91 GHzsupported by 8 GB RAM.

Google’s Pixel 8a performance not up to expected level

On a single-core task, Pixel 8a score is 1218. In multi-core, it goes up to 3175. In both cases, it’s worse than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which equips the Galaxy S23 series for example. The latest generation of Google’s processor therefore seems to be lagging behind its competitor’s current model. Knowing that the future Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will surely be very powerful, the gap can only widen.

Obviously, we will not conclude that the Pixel 8a will be a bad smartphone, or even that it will not be powerful enough to ensure proper operation. The figures are there only as an indication and the articulation of the processor with all the rest of the device contributes enormously to the overall mobile performance. It is even possible that the model measured by Geekbench is only a early prototype simply there to mark a milestone in the development of the Pixel 8a. Let’s be patient.
