Former supermodel Amber Valletta has shared a personal story about Jennifer Lopez’s iconic Versace jungle dress.
Amber Valletta (49), first supermodel, then actress, commented on Versace’s iconic “jungle dress” with which US star Jennifer Lopez (53) caused such a stir at the Grammys in 2000. In the video format “Vogue’s Life In Looks” of the fashion magazine “Vogue”, the Valletta too on her Instagram account published, the American goes through the fashion highlights of her career and reveals little background stories to each outfit.

The famous silk chiffon dress with the almost endless neckline by the Italian luxury label can also be found among the many photo shoots and shows. Valletta reveals that she wore the designer dress in 1999 before J.Lo made it world famous on the red carpet a year later.
“She stormed the internet with it, but I wore it first,” Valletta proudly explains, adding that this dress has been googled more times than any other look in history. “It’s kind of cool to be a part of this story,” she concludes.
J.Lo recreated the look
How iconic the look was Jennifer Lopez last demonstrated in 2019by referencing the statement-print dress at one appearance. At Versace’s Spring/Summer 2020 presentation during Milan Fashion Week, she earned a standing ovation from viewers as she recreated the look.
Amber Valletta attended modeling school when she was 15. Her breakthrough came just two years later: Calvin Klein used her to advertise his Eternity fragrance. From 2000 she switched to acting and appeared in films such as “Hitch – The Date Doctor”.
