According to the English tabloid The Sunthe role of Bond would have been offered to the 33-year-old British actor, known for his roles in Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron and more recently Bullet Train.

A contract signed within the week?

“Bond is Aaron’s role, if he decides to accept it”said a source from Sun. “The offer is formally on the table and they are waiting to hear back.”

Taylor-Johnson is expected to accept the role of 007 and “sign your contract within the week”according to the newspaper, which specifies that the EON studio, which produces the James Bond films, plans to begin filming the new adventures of the British secret agent this year.

The information should of course be taken with a grain of salt, as nothing has yet been confirmed or officially announced by EON Productions or Amazon MGM Studios.

Taylor-Johnson is, however, a completely plausible choice for the role of Bond. If the actor gained popularity by appearing in numerous blockbusters, his performance in the thriller Nocturnal Animals (in 2016) proved the extent of his talent, and also earned him a Golden Globe for best supporting actor.

However, the choice of Taylor-Johnson could disappoint many Bond fans, who were instead hoping for a little diversity for this role, which has always been played by white actors. The names of Idris Elba (Luther), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) or Henry Golding (The Gentlemen) have, for example, been circulating as potential options.

While waiting for more information on this new James Bond and Taylor-Johnson’s involvement in the project, the actor has a rather busy 2024. He opposite Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt in The Fall Guy (May 1st at the cinema), headlines Kraven the Hunterin theaters August 28, and is also in the casting of the new Nosferatu by Robert Eggers, expected later this year.
