After Glenn Ford in 1978 (in the Superman by Richard Donner), John Schneider in 2001 (in the series Smallville) or even Kevin Costner in 2013 (in the Man of Steel by Zack Snyder), it’s Pruitt Taylor Vince’s turn to slip into the shoes of Jonathan Kent, Clark Kent’s adoptive father, in the next film Superman expected in theaters in 2025.
Papa Kent takes action
Taylor Vince thus joins the already well-stocked cast of James Gunn’s film (Guardians of the Galaxy). We will indeed see David Corenswet playing the title role with Rachel Brosnahan alongside him as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
Added to this are Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, the editor-in-chief of the Daily Planetbut also Nathan Fillion in the Green Lantern costume, Isabela Merced in the boots of Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría in the role of the Engineer and finally Anthony Carrigan in the skin of Metamorpho.

Superman will not be Taylor Vince’s first foray into the world of superheroes or even comic book adaptations. The 63-year-old actor has indeed appeared in the series Agents of SHIELD, Heroes Reborn And The Walking Dead.

His long career in film and television also includes roles in films Mississippi Burning, JFKor Bird Box on Netflix, and many series like X Files, True Blood, The Mentalist And Stranger Things. He will soon be featured in the Apple TV+ series The Lady in the Lakewith Natalie Portman.
Written and directed by Gunn, Superman is currently filming in the state of Georgia and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2025.
