Shortly after his breakthrough, Jamie Dornan received bad reviews for “Fifty Shades of Grey.” They still haunt him to this day.

Jamie Dornan (41) disappeared after the first bad reviews for “Fifty Shades of Gray” arrived. With his wife Amelia Warner (41) he sought shelter with “Fifty Shades” director Sam Taylor-Johnson (56). “We hid there for a while,” the actor revealed in one Radio interview with BBC 4.

The first part of “Fifty Shades of Gray” was released in cinemas in 2015. Two years earlier, Jamie Dornan had made a huge impression on critics with his crime series “The Fall – Death in Belfast” alongside Gillian Anderson (55). The Northern Irishman received “career-changing reviews,” he recalled in an interview with BBC 4.

Made “downright ridiculous”.

With “Fifty Shades of Grey” Jamie Dornan lost the favor of the trade press again. For his role as a sadistic billionaire, he was made “downright ridiculous,” as he now complained.

At first there was no way out. Because “Fifty Shades of Gray” was so successful that parts two and three of the bestselling film adaptations were immediately given the green light. Dornan signed on for the sequels “knowing that there will be much more shame to come.”

Even today, when he has long since rehabilitated himself with films like “Belfast”, there are hardly any articles about him without reference to the trilogy with Dakota Johnson (34). “I’ve gotten very good reviews for my recent work, and there aren’t many of them that don’t mention ‘Fifty Shades,'” he said.

The tenor of the lyrics is: “He’s great, but we shouldn’t forget that he wasn’t so great once.” Still, Jamie Dornan doesn’t regret filming “Fifty Shades of Grey.”
