Japan: The vacation comes from a can

Despite Corona, the Japanese want to be able to breathe deeply again. That's why the city of Hokuto in Yamanashi Province is giving away mountain air in cans.

The corona virus has virtually paralyzed tourism around the world. After individual countries had slowly opened up to visitors again, tourist hotspots like the Ballermann in Mallorca had to close more or less again. Even in the Far East there are no visitors, even the locals can hardly enjoy nature in their own country. That's why the city of Hokuto in Yamanashi Province came up with a strange idea.

Japan: Sniffing instant mountain air

It offers vacation from a can. As the Japanese television broadcaster NHK reported, city employees were sent to the popular Yatsugatake mountain range to capture the mountain air there and fill it in cans. The mountain range has been one of the "100 Famous Mountains of Japan" since 2007. It is otherwise a popular excursion destination, especially for hiking and trekking fans.

So that the Japanese can breathe deeply even in Corona times, the "mountain air cans are to be raffled off on the Internet and given away to sister cities, it is said. The necessary variety is also ensured. The employees of the city of Hokuto were not only in the mountains posted, but also in parks and canyons. Each of the 100 gift sets consist of one of these three "types of air".
